Larry Sanger is one of the true pioneers of the internet - he was there for the big bang of wikipedia and is now involved in the creation of a whole new universe, digitaluniverse.net. In part two of our discussion with Larry, he discusses his views on the advantages and disadvantages of using wiki's for online textbooks and offers his advice on what should how best to approach this kind of project. Will Richardson also joins the conversation and shares his views on the possibilities for 'read-write' textbooks.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the incredible conversation. A couple of quick comments/questions.
1. To gain access to these texts and actually distribute them ditally, wouldn't the $100 MIT laptop be an option? A state could purchase enough laptops for every student, put free texts on them and use their textbook budget to pay for the project.
2. Fred Bartels (www.1to1.editme.com) has proposed creating digital texts called infowikis. He's got a very interesing take on things since he works in an Independent School (as I do) and these schools are not required to follow NCLB. I would love to see him participate in this conversation.
