holy wow... you guys were awesome. I'd like to that all the fine people who came and participated. That was the most fun i've had on a live webcast maybe ever. I also hope that you will drop in here and leave a few notes on what worked and what didn't work yesterday. It'll be very helpful for next time!
cheers. dave.
I've just finished listening to part 2 today and I want to thank you for doing this project and publishing the chat. Even though I wasn't able to make it to the chat live last week, the work that you did has already influenced and supported what I'm doing with my students this week. In our 11th grade Computer Arts class, we are trying to construct a class wiki. Message boards are so linear and blogs are a bit all over the place for our current needs. We're trying to get a discussion about the class going that will be a history/log of the class and also a place for networking regarding class projects. At the end if it works at all, the result should essentially be a textbook of the course.
Right now our biggest challenge seems to be how to make the leap from the ongoing discussion postings to the beginning of an article. I want it to "grow" and not be created by me as the teacher. On the other hand, while the discussion is starting to take off, the article has yet to "bloom" or in fact, even exist. I was interested to see that in the case of this project, there seemed to be more article and less discussion. I wonder why. Thanks for the great work you're sharing. It's very helpful to me!
