Adapt the technology, not the teaching.

This project is in large part being approached from the -wrong- angle. I keep hearing and reading references to state standards and access control but no little to mention of students or teachers, tons of references to textbooks but few to wikis, and a plan sketch which not only does little to address the problem of outdated textbooks but falls prey to the same over-bureaucratization that makes the current state of textbooks so abominable (e.g. using pre-existing textbook material as the foundation for the wiki, and printing said wiki). Wikis -can- streamline how content is delivered, and -can- facilitate better / more engaged learning, but they won't if we're not willing to move beyond the current textbook model.
