I have found that one of the most difficult aspects of using some of these new tools in an academic setting is the fact that there is still much that has to be done about explaining, contextualizing, demystifying and understanding what they can do...and perhaps more importantly, what they will not do.
On the EDUCAUSE website there is this wonderful pdf that shows how the University of Southern California is explaining and using wikis.
